As a Detention Youth Worker you will have the opportunity to support and mentor young people to make positive changes to their lives and become productive members of their community.
Formal qualifications are not required to become a detention youth worker as you will be provided all the tools and training required during your induction program.

If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to undertake an online psychometric assessment. This assessment will take up to an hour to complete. You will be given up to two days to complete this assessment. |
After the online psychometric assessment, you will be required to attend an assessment centre. At the assessment centre you will participate in group and individual activities with other applicants. This will take approximately three hours. |
Following the assessment centre, successful applicants will be asked to make an appointment with our medical provider to undertake a pre-employment medical and functional fitness assessment. Associated costs are paid for by the department. |
At this point, we will commence conducting online reference checks. Let your referees know that you have applied for the role. After selection panel review, offers of employment will be made. |
We will give you at least three weeks’ notice before the commencement of the induction training. |
Youth Detention Centres employ a large cohort of staff to support young people. There are many promotional opportunities within the centre and organisation.
