You might know that our Mission is to solve our customers’ most challenging problems across Aeronautics, Mission Critical Systems, Space and Guided Weapons to help safeguard Australia’s future. What makes us different, though, is that as part of one of the World’s largest Defence organisations, we have access to capabilities and technology most can only imagine. And, here in Australia, we are working closely with the ADF to address its most important priorities. So, there are plenty of opportunities to start a career in a friendly, supportive and values-led environment. Here, everyone contributes, and everyone matters.
Northrop Grumman's MQ-4C Triton Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) provides real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) over vast ocean and coastal regions. The aircraft can fly for more than 24 hours at a time, at an altitude above 55,000 feet and an operational range of 8,200 nautical miles. Australia is a cooperative program partner in the Triton program which consists of the US Navy, Royal Australian Air Force and Northrop Grumman.

Meaningful and low-stress work. Can sometimes be a little slow but overall very good.
My role involves partnering with the business to mature the capability of our workforce. My team partners with the People & Culture Business Partners in leadership development, development frameworks for functional/technical capability, succession planning and workforce planning. Additionally, I oversee our learning management system, support our intern and graduate programs, and support our team to develop solutions on employee performance, engagement and career planning.
As a requirements engineer I am heavily involved in the systems engineering work, and manage databases that track project requirements. There is a lot of interaction with many different people within the project, and I have opportunities to learn about other aspects of systems engineering such as integration and test.

Lots of challenges, in my area there are a lot of opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and add to your skillset. There's also lots of opportunities to utilise previously learned skills. You're encouraged to speak up if processes don't make sense, and there isn't any backlash if you speak up either.
The opportunity to be exposed to defence level environments and the processes that are involved. Additionally, the exposure to the multitude of projects available at NGA.
I've been exposed to lots of different work at an early level.
The people! The culture at NGA is nothing but supportive. We face challenges together and help each other out when needed.
The people and general culture are great to work around. Lots of support provided for career growth and progression.
Given that it is quite small, the strategy for progression and development for interns and grads is very different person to person. This includes compensation, further education as well as opportunities to participate in other teams. A lot of it relies on your own dedication and pushing, which isn't great. They are working on their development strategies, however it is still in early stages.
In the ever-changing world coming out of COVID, communication can still be a large detriment within NGA. With undefined areas between managers and their workers. Especially when assigned inter-state relationships. Often time, I myself have to assign work due to the conflicting schedule of my manager. Despite best efforts to try and specify time, it does not match the response rate that one achieves in person.
I don't have great visibility of career plan or career development.
We are still maturing as a business to grow our policies and procedures.
Not always particularly transparent on internal career progression
