Sustainability at Department of Transport and Main Roads

Our roads are made with recycled tyres, we rehabilitate forest areas, focus on low resource solutions, all while trying to give the best value to Queensland.

Always there for every stage of work ... sustainability mindset for every task is a must have.

There is a sense of responsibility with the environment and care of nature.

Through the work TMR is increasingly trying to improve its efforts to improve sustainability delivery in their work. The facility has many uses with customer service, and vehicle inspections being undertaken at the premises. the places is quite compact with lots of people at the premises, and TMR does not have wasteful takeaway coffee cups etc that are not sustainable. its simple process is sustainable

There is no commitment at all which is disappointing.

Focus on sustainability is evident however innovation to strive for further sustainability goals could be improved.

Environmental officers work across the department to ensure ethical practices. I'm not too sure about the specifics beyond that.

While TMR has made great strides in reducing environmental impact, it is uniquely positioned to make a wide-reaching impact through the state's transport network and is, in my mind, far too conservative.

It is alright.

Trying their best but could always be better

In the team I'm in, a lot of planning is around getting the public away from using motor vehicles and into Public transport and/or active transport. The organisation is dedicated to sustainability principles however how much of this dedication there is, is highly dependent on the individual business areas.

TMR has entire branches and roles dedicated to environmental stability, and ensuring our oceans and waterways are cared for. Multitudes of projects are occurring in this space to innovate and keep out environmental impacts to nil or less.
