Your role: 

As a Wellbeing Officer, you will enter the Navy as a qualified member of the human services sector, working at sea and ashore. Youโ€™ll work together with religious chaplains and be responsible for providing non-religious pastoral care and spiritual support to all Navy members and their families. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting civil ceremonies and secular services for a range of occasions including individual and ceremonial events. 

You will also have a role in advising on ethical and moral issues affecting the workforce and will take part in character development responsibilities in the training of all personnel.

Salary: 

Upon completing your initial military and employment training, youโ€™ll enjoy a salary package starting from $109,220.

For this role, you must:

  • Be an Australian Citizen and under 56 years of age on the day of entry. 
  • You will need to hold a bachelorโ€™s degree in a relevant human services field such as:*
    • Social Sciences
    • Social Work
    • Psychology
    • Counselling
    • Nursing with a post-graduate qualification in Mental health
  • At least two full years of pastoral care experience. 
  • In addition to the minimum requirement of 2 years pastoral care experience, you would also need to provide evidence of either:
    • 400hrs clinical Pastoral Experience through a recognised provider
    • L2 membership with the Australian Counselling Association
    • Clinical Membership of Psychotherapy and Counselling federation of Australia
    • Non Provisional Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
    • Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers
    • A combination of organised pastoral/ social engagement that includes 450 hrs of face to face pastoral engagement and 20 hrs of face to face supervision
  • Applicants must also draft a cover letter, addressing selection criteria that articulates and illustrates their world-view of spirituality and religion (provided to applicants once eligibility has been discussed with recruiter). 

*Academic records must reflect completed units in psychology, mental health, counselling and / or pastoral care
