Royal Australian Navy - Weapons and Sensors Operator (No Experience Required) (Rolling Intake)

Your role:

In this pivotal role as a Weapons and Sensors Operator (also known as Combat Systems Operator), you'll be trained to understand and operate advanced Combat Management Systems and to provide a clear tactical maritime picture to Command. You'll help run operations from the warfare centre of the ship, feeding critical information to Commanders so they can make effective tactical decisions.

The maritime warfare environment is constantly evolving and changing, meaning Weapons and Sensors Operators need to sub-specialise their skills, with the option to move into above or underwater operational spheres. In this role, you will use a variety of radar and sonar sensors to detect, track and identify air, surface and sub-surface contacts - perfect for someone who likes a challenge.

In addition to your core combat operator skills, you will have the opportunity to master the operation of a variety of small arms weapons, be part of ship boarding teams, help with resupply operations at sea and operate small boats from the ship.

This is a role that provides high variety where you can really make a difference—travelling around the world to help protect Australia's national interests and build partnerships across the maritime environment.

Prior experience isn't needed. After six months of initial training, you'll gain all the necessary skills and qualifications to become a Weapons and Sensors Operator.

Salary:

Be paid to train and learn the skills required to become a qualified Weapons and Sensors Operator. Upon completion of your initial military and employment training, you'll enjoy a competitive starting salary package of up to: $84,769, which includes a maritime allowance when serving at sea.

In addition to your salary, you will receive generous superannuation, housing subsidies and free medical and dental.
