Your role

The Secure Information Communications System team has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer Graduate/Junior to join the team in a full-time permanent position based on-site at Rydalmere. In this role, you will support a major Defence communication project’s infrastructure on a day-to-day basis. This will include:

  • Supporting and maintaining the project’s Cisco and Juniper networking infrastructure.
  • Software development using programming languages (GoLang, Python).
  • Support Microsoft and VMWare virtualised server and systems environment.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior systems engineers to develop, implement and test new capabilities to improve the solution.
  • Support and follow the team’s technical documentation and change management processes.
  • Work closely with installation and engineering teams to implement new solution capabilities & features.
  • Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups.
  • Support the project’s Verification and Validation team with testing, verifying and selling off mission system requirements.

About you

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, IT/Software Engineering, Electrical Engineer or Communications Engineering
  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Sound knowledge of Information Technology and communication systems
  • Understanding of Windows/Linux/Unix/Mac Operating systems & virtualisation concepts
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering concepts & life-cycle stages
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Willingness to learn and ability to adapt
