Your role

Part of Thales Australia, Australian Munitions is the largest domestic manufacturer of explosive ordnance to the Australian Defence Force, with a successful track record delivering ammunition, propellants, explosives and related services including acid production and industrial waste treatment to Defence and commercial markets.

The Production Engineer is deeply involved in production support, delivering technical solutions to production issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will own the process in your assigned area to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and cost objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor operators/tradespeople to conduct critical processes safely and competently
  • Ensure product specifications are met and support the industrialisation of new products
  • Assist with maintenance schedules, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and contribute to improvement projects
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environment policies; actively work to resolve hazards
  • Engage at the shop floor to resolve and improve plant and process issues
  • Complete root-cause analysis on production methods to identify potential issues in equipment and raw materials
  • Prepare Production Readiness Reviews to guide production and maintenance team members in best practices
  • Learn about the products, and their compositions and drive initiatives that achieve their high standards
  • Thales is preparing the facility, which plays key role in protecting Australia’s sovereignty, to meet future product demands and new technologies

About you
