Your role

This is a unique opportunity to join the critically important Guided Weapons, Space and Hypersonics program established in Thales’ Australian Munitions business to support the key Defence strategies. What does this mean? Think rockets, missiles and space weapons! The cool thing is you will gain first-hand exposure to see how they design, develop and test the latest tech!

Working at the sites in Benalla and Mulwala - Pangerang and Yorta Yorta land in year one of the program you will:

  • Understanding the site: safety, production, engineering principles, and R&D
  • Designation to a project – for example, you could be working on a rocket motor
  • Getting to know the Corporate functions

In the second year, you will begin to develop your expertise as an Engineer. A mentor from outside your management chain will be provided over the duration to provide additional avenues for professional development.

Training & development

The program focuses on developing talented graduates to help deliver tomorrow's high-tech solutions. Over the 18 months, you will engage in on-the-job training, mentoring, a graduate project and structured learning modules. There will be opportunities not only to become an expert in your discipline but also to learn from the wider Thales business, gaining valuable exposure to a wide range of Thales leading solutions.

About you

What they value most from graduates is a willingness to learn and the confidence to offer solutions, however, there are a few key differences with this role that require the right person!

  • Firstly, you must be willing to relocate to Mulwala (for at least the duration of the program), they provide a generous support package for you to do so
  • You are recently degree qualified in Chemical Engineering
  • A true desire to work in a diverse team towards a common goal
  • Leadership experience demonstrated through previous employment or extra-curricular activities whilst studying at university
  • Demonstrated experience of practical problem-solving and achieving solutions
