SRLA GRADUATE PROGRAM

The Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) Graduate Program is an exciting, challenging and rewarding opportunity to learn from industry experts and contribute to shaping a better future for our growing city and state. 

During the program, you will develop a wide range of skills and gain valuable industry experience as you rotate through project teams within your area of interest. Positions are available across a range of disciplines including engineering, communications, planning, law and more. 

As well as offering learning and development opportunities, the program also provides mentoring and networking to kick-start your career in transport.  

YOUR ROLE

Working collaboratively within multiple divisions within the SRLA organisation, the Graduate will be resilient, flexible and adaptable to project and program demands. Demonstrating outcomes focussed and best outcomes delivery, the primary responsibility of a Graduate is to undertake a variety of technical and professional duties to support the SRLA in planning and delivering a city and state-shaping project that will transform Victoria's public transport system.

The Graduate position is a role designed by the business to allow the incumbent to learn and develop in their specific stream as well as develop and practice core competencies to successfully contribute to the Victorian transport network. With appropriate supervision, the role will build the graduate capabilities and work across their allocated Division and rotations. 

Graduates will provide technical support and coordination to strategic projects on behalf of their Division with a key focus on implementing agile work practices and scaling technical work products according to risk complexity.  
In addition, Graduates are required to develop and maintain relationships and collaborate with others across the business and in their cohort. 

Graduates will be expected to engage in and successfully complete SRLA's Graduate training program and job placement rotations in order to reach a technical proficiency level to develop and grow into professional leaders of Victoria's Transport Network.

Suburban Rail Loop Authority graduates will gain the opportunity to provide operational support to multiple areas of the organisation including but not limited to; 

  • Planning and Precincts
  • Rail and Infrastructure
  • Corporate Services
  • Strategic Communications and Engagement
  • Commercial and Legal Division

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Across project rotations, and with supervision and targeting learning and development, the newly appointed graduates will:

  • Be committed to continued professional development demonstrated by attendance and active participation in learning activities
  • Build and maintain a strong working knowledge of Suburban Rail Loop Authority including policies, procedures, divisions and vision
  • Support the delivery of projects, planning processes and activities through supporting day to day operational activities within various divisions
  • Work autonomously and within the team by establishing and maintain productive and collaborative relationships
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, keeping stakeholders informed and provide recommendations on process and operational improvements
  • Have a desire to work and develop a career within the Victorian Public Sector
  • Commitment to a 24-month graduate program
  • Strong sense of self-motivation and enthusiasm with a strong work ethic and can-do attitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong problem-solving ability 
  • Well-developed computer skills 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • Program starts in February 2022 
  • Up to two-year fixed-term employment — with priority and support for graduates to secure opportunities post the graduate program 
  • Up to four six-month rotations in your area of interest

To be eligible for our 2022 Graduate Program, you'll need to:

  • Have full  Australian working rights at the time of application  
  • Have completed an undergraduate degree within the last 3 years of program start date (e.g. 2019, 2020, 2021 or January 2022)
  • Be able to commence full-time employment commencing February 2022
  • Have studied the relevant degree/discipline

Salary and conditions:

When you join the program, you'll be employed full time at a salary of VPS3
