Smart Infrastructure intelligently connects energy systems, buildings and industries to adapt and evolve the way we live and work. We work together with customers and partners to create an ecosystem that intuitively responds to the needs of people and helps customers to better use resources. It helps our customers to thrive, communities to progress and supports sustainable development. We do this from the macro to the micro level, from physical products, components and systems to connected, cloud-based digital offerings and services.

Background to Yatala Branch:

The Siemens Overhead Medium Voltage Systems (OMVS) research and development team in Yatala, Queensland develop world first technology and products including intelligent and connected overhead powerline switching devices. These devices have on board microcontrollers with real time operating systems, wireless connectivity using multiple protocols and a suite of PC application tools for configuration and data management. There is also a cloud based customer data management tool.

OMVS products are exported to over 30 countries driving the requirement for local language support in our PC applications and cloud tools.

Project Scope:

A mentor would support your project and develop you along the project tasks.

The project involves two key elements:

  1. To audit the code base of all PC applications and cloud tools and identify user interface messages that require translation into other languages. The code base is spread across a range of technologies, including web (ASP MVC) and desktop applications (Winforms), so an ability to read and understand code in these environments is required.
  2. To work with the Siemens developers to design and implement a localisation editor that can be used by Siemens global business partners to customise the user interface of the software product range for local language support.

Competencies:

  • The successful applicant should be engaged in completing a tertiary qualification in Software Engineering or Computer Science with the following minimum competencies:
  • C# - required
  • Javascript/Html – required
  • Visual Studio (V17 or later) – optional
  • Winforms development – optional
