Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
The situation is improving, as evidenced by the increasing number of female graduates joining the company in recent years. however, there remains a noticeable gender imbalance in many teams, and some employees may not yet fully embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion. to address this, i believe it would be beneficial for the company to extend diversity training to a broader range of employees, including those who have been with the company for a longer period.

Diversity is greatly celebrated at optus. i have had some fantastic opportunities through the express yourself network (lgbtqia+) as well as support from the disability network. there are also a lot of fantastic events for women in leadership.

They have recruitment targets for women in leadership and are proud allies to the lgbtqia community, but there is a way to go to increase the representation of women in leadership roles. they have generous maternity leave policies, and schemes to promote staff internally.

As mentioned before, i believe our company is an example of best practice when it comes to diversity and inclusion. we have employee networks dedicated to the lgbtiqa+ community, and we are a proud major sponsor of mardi gras. we also have first nations employee groups, and we publish our rap earlier this year and went above and beyond the requirements. we also have an elevate employee group, dedicated to promoting female talent within the workforce and are working hard to eliminate the pay gap. we also have general parental leave rights, and offer flexible working arrangements for parents and caregivers. we also have quite a diverse slt with different cultural/gender backgrounds.

72% of md/vp level executives are men, optus may have some policies to hire more women/ethnic minorities but it is clear that these policies seemingly do not extend to the highest levels of the organisation. the disproportionate ratio of male to female executives is too large for me to feel comfortable saying that the policies are working as intended. diversity especially at the highest levels also leaves much to be desired. optus do have events and activities celebrating diversity but ^.

Optus is extremely respectful and diverse in various ways. there are various groups to join, everyone is well respected and there are various procedures in place for people to have their say if they feel things should be different.

Definitely a desire to make it aware, however not outright supporting initiatives such as the voice was a massive disappointment which encouraged the opposite of diversity.

We have specific communities/networks that run events and speaking sessions to celebrate and educate for women, cultural minorities and the lgbtqia+ community, each of which are chaired and endorsed by a member of the slt. there are targets in recruitment but we could always do more. they are flexible around child care in the school holidays and for school pick-ups and drop offs.

Optus 100% puts a major focus on actively promoting a diverse culture, as the best companies have diverse people. i think we still have a long way to go in certain areas like women in software roles, but optus seems to be always making steps in the right direction.

Optus has a strongly intersectional approach to diversity which spans all areas of society including disabilities, gender, lgbtqiaa+, race and ethnicity, parents, veterans, aboriginals, and age. optus should be very proud of this
