Training & Personal Development at Mainfreight Australia

7.3
7.3 rating for Training, based on 16 reviews
Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
Mainfreight invests a lot into its Team and the training that is provided. Everyone gets to participate in a week long induction course based in Melbourne. This is an awesome opportunity where you meet Team members from other branches and get to better understand the Mainfreight culture.

The training is largely run through our internal training team. We also have a wide range of external courses put on for our professional development. This year alone I have done advanced excel training, public speaking and a number of internal learning sessions, including a presentation from one of our board directors.

There are continuous training programmes available to any team member who requires further training in whichever area.

Training can be somewhat lacking, at times you feel like you've been thrown in the deep end, that is part of the culture though.

There are so many different training programmes to take part in however we don't always hear about them. There are definitely opportunities to upskill and progress.

There are multiple short courses on offer, such as Microsoft Excel, time management, Public Speaking. There are also leadership courses and induction courses which are far more difficult to be included in, and for which participation was promised to me at time of initial employment that have not materialised.

We have a ready fire aim approach which means sometimes we get into the task without training. We see it as a positive as were not waiting around the get the task done and we can learn from our mistake. However, a little more training at an Ops level would be valuable for an new employee.

There are team leader and induction programs however not too much on working through our systems.

A number of internal training programs are run focusing on the specifics of an area of the business including leadership and management. External professional selling techniques/training very beneficial.

Training days have backlog and so aren't completed initially when probably best to do so.

Should be more training on the job and modules
