The Opportunity

At Fulton Hogan we work hard to be the best and this begins with finding, developing and retaining the best fresh talent in New Zealand. We understand that where you land your Graduate opportunity is the first step in your career, and with over 80 years of experience, we are committed to ensuring you grow as our business grows.

We foster an inclusive culture based on family values. In whichever location you are placed (we have opportunities all around New Zealand!) you’ll get the opportunity to work alongside teams of experienced professionals to support a variety of projects, in an environment that is rewarding, challenging and fun.

What we’re looking for

Working with all levels of management, you’ll be exposed to the range of accounting functions through our structured graduate programme. You will experience all that Fulton Hogan has to offer to give you the opportunity to work in the various roles within our finance teams and across our various business activities. Our graduates become managers and leaders, playing a pivotal role in the ongoing success of Fulton Hogan.

We support all our accounting graduates as they complete their Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) or CPA program, and develop individual professional training plans which are supported by a professional mentor. Fulton Hogan takes your career to places you never thought you’d go. Best of all, you get to choose the direction you want to go and we give you the tools to get there!

The role offers further professional development, conferences, and rotation opportunities both domestic and international across the Fulton Hogan Group.

Our current Graduates are involved in:

  • Month-end processes
  • Budgeting
  • Financial reviews
  • Preparation of financial reports
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Management accounts
  • Fixed assets
  • Job costing
  • Tax
  • Internal audit
  • Involved in projects

What we need from you

You will be a recent Accounting Graduate with a keen interest in business systems, well developed written and verbal communication skills, excellent organisational skills and be an enthusiastic team player with the drive to take ownership and responsibility of your own work. You will be practically minded with a hands-on approach to getting things done.

To further your accounting qualifications, we are CAANZ ATE and CPA accredited, and support graduates in their professional development.

We will provide you with technical knowledge, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to see the big-picture behind the numbers. Get the head start and begin your accounting career within the commercial sector. This is your opportunity to join a dynamic business and a team dedicated to delivering good work!

When you apply online, make sure you submit your CV, Cover Letter and Academic Transcript. You’ll also need to be available to start January 2023.

Graduate Success Stories

  • Graduate stories
Work moves so quickly on-site and it’s amazing to see the planning which happens behind the scenes to make this happen.  I am also surrounded by a wealth of knowledge and everyone is always willing to take the time to explain why things are done a certain way.

  • Graduate stories
I greatly enjoy the physical nature of my role. After spending a significant amount of time working almost entirely from behind a desk, I started to miss the exercise and even the feeling of making physical progress that comes with working on-site.
