What we're looking for

The Fulton Hogan Graduate Programme provides graduates with experience in all facets of the business on a rotational basis. Our vertically-integrated business model, covering quarrying, surfacing, construction and infrastructure maintenance provides a unique range of learning and development opportunities that will enable us to build our future leaders and technical experts.

And here's the best bit - on average our new Graduates get promoted within the first 18 months of employment. So if you want an accelerated career path, Fulton Hogan is the place to get it!

What we need from you

We're after graduates with a keen interest in building New Zealand's infrastructure.

Graduate positions are an excellent opportunity to become a skilled engineer and to cement a successful future career. The positions require self-motivated individuals, who display a high level of initiative and excellent communication skills. Successful applicants will also have a can do attitude, excellent work ethic, and will be passionate about learning and developing new skills. A positive attitude towards maintaining a safe working environment will put you in good stead.

To be considered for these roles, you will be in your final year of either a Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering at a New Zealand institution and be available to commence work in early 2022. This is your opportunity to join a dynamic business and a team dedicated to delivering good work!

I generally enjoy the work that I am given. It is challenging and stimulating, I enjoy been given tasks that involve responsibility and organisation. I enjoy being able to have time in the field as well as taking on administrative duties.

Site engineer responsibilities. Assisting PM and PEs with the day to day operations, ensure work is completed in compliance with specs, PCP, WI. Ensure site crews and subbies have work programmed daily, weekly. Monitored productivity, do cost control, subbie claims etc.

  • Fulton Hogan I feel a large sense of pride being able to say I'm part of the organisation as Fulton Hogan does amazing things for the communities it is a part of.

  • Big company with lots going on so there are lots of opportunities to learn and grow and try different things. Good pride in the work we do.

  • Being able to move around the business and having a lot of opportunities to try different things as a graduate. Graduate summits to meet others and share experiences with people in a similar boat. Having the opportunities at these events to talk to people in higher positions and gain a wider perspective

Cons

    • Long working hours/weekend work

    • I have quite a long commute to work

    • Some stigma around working more hours each week than stated on contract. People ask questions once you leave before 5 p.m.

    • Not working in the city and in sometimes not-close locations.

    • Long hours
