The department has a vibrant social club with fortnightly work social activities. The department proactively promotes work/life balance and the senior executives drive this by demonstrating their own balance. At a team level, quality varies across the department. Some senior execs have an open door policy with employees and communicate freely. Others implement a more hierarchal structure where it becomes challenging to feel seen for the work being done.

In the office, we take our jobs seriously and follow the procedures and requirement carefully. We do discuss problems together and commit to the deadline. You are encouraged to ask questions and senior staff are happy to answer. You do not bear the pressure by yourself as support is available so do not afraid of ask. After hours, staff tend to enjoy their life with own friends and do not bring works back as entry level. Workmates do not tend to mix work relationship with personal life but show respect to each other.

Happy Hour's every fortnight are a great time to socialise with colleagues. There is also a great emphasis on being physically and mentally healthy at work - so walking or gyming at lunchtime is encouraged. The office is always chatty and positive, and colleagues are willing to support and assist you when you may need help. The staff at the top of the Departmental hierarchy are very friendly, smart and happy to speak with you and hear your ideas.

It really depends on each team, but there are fortnightly 'happy hours' on Fridays, so it's a good chance for you to meet people, and there are many events through the year for all staff.

Being a graduate may skew my response to this slightly as we are more keen to involved. But, the department makes many attempts to reduce the hierarchies that usually come with government departments, the executives are very visible and all leaders are approachable. My line area is very supportive of teamwork and as such we tend to work on most tasks together. The department has a very active social club and happy hours are always a buzz.

The Department has outstanding social activities as long as you are willing to be involved. If you like music, there is the best Choir group to join. The department is well structured and you get to know the teams in your own branch very quickly. Very often, my team organises morning tea and lunch meetings. So, you get to know everyone in your team very quickly.

The culture of the Department differs based on the area in which you are working. Some areas are very warm and friendly with lots of chatting, cooperation and Friday afternoon drinks. Other areas are more business-like and less supportive of staff.

By nature of its work the Department sets an excellent example and maintains high standards of employee well-being in the form of cooperation, team work and socialising. There are plenty of social and work-related events that can be extended to networks and future cooperation. Get into stuff that you are really interested and specialise in them.

My group is very collegiate. Senior persons are very approachable and supportive of the graduate program and the benefit to the Department in cultivating graduate talent

People are friendly and managers are supportive and will go out of there way to make provisions for any personal issues you may have. The culture is inclusive of all individuals.

The culture is friendly, colleagues are happy to assist graduates and answer questions. There are core business hours, however working times can be flexible.

Very friendly, supportive, open to new ideas, collaboration is encouraged. It is fairly hierarchical but necessary. Generally you work within a small team on a similar subject matter or a project. There is socialising between colleagues especially as a graduate - I have made many friends this year during the graduate program.
