Our Why

Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.

About the Opportunity (your why)

Datacom's Early Careers Programme encompasses a range of career pathways; each tailored to provide a meaningful career and level of support suited to the individual and their level of skill, qualification and experience. We apply a skills-based approach to our next generation of early career joiners. We recognise that further education (beyond HighSchool) is role dependent - in some cases further education is necessary and in other cases learning on the job is a perfect way to gain practical skills and knowledge. For that reason, we work with you during the recruitment process to ensure each applicant is treated as an individual and matched to the right role.

How will I be supported?

Your career at Datacom will kick off with the Talent Elevator Induction. A carefully curated induction programme which ensures you have the best start possible at Datacom. We fly all of our Early Careers cohort to Auckland for a week of learning, connection and fun. You’ll get to know your peers, our leadership team and develop the core skills you’ll need to get started in your role. Throughout the 12 months of our programme you’ll have access to mentors, career coaching, social events and certifications!

The Role:

Build a future proof career in Tech with transferable, in demand skills. This pathway offers dedicated training, a supportive environment and access to the tools and resources you’ll need to excel as your experience and expertise grow!

If you have a love of technology, problem solving and not sitting in the same spot all day...look no further!

Datacom are looking to hire a Graduate Field Engineer to join the Hawkes bay and Tauranga teams. This role requires travelling to client sites to help with installation, diagnoses, troubleshooting and service repairs for complex equipment and systems. You will be required to have your own vehicle.

All training will be provided you just have to be adaptable and open to learning!

Once you're all trained up you might support your team and clients by

  • Reviewing operational quality of system equipment
  • Instructing customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.
  • Being a liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters
  • Interpreting customers’ needs and clarify if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support reps, or engineers.
  • General field support, hardware and software including PCs, and networking/wireless networking.

What we’re looking for

While no experience is required it will be beneficial if you have studied or have a keen interest in Technology and hardware

  • A self-starter – motivated and passionate about tech
  • A great communicator
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to problem solve and think outside of the box
  • Motivated with a great attitude
  • Able to collaborate and work in a team
