The across-the-board culture of positive communication was constantly evident. Throughout the process, the next steps and timelines were conveyed quickly. I always had the impression that my time and effort were respected.

How did you hear about the Bunzl Grad Program?

I first heard about Bunzl when searching for graduate programs online. I saw the post on Prosple’s GradNZ platform and saw that it was a great opportunity to learn about various aspects of business within a large company.

What was the selection process like?

The process of applying for the Bunzl Grad Program had various steps, spread over a few weeks. First, I submitted my CV and cover letter then received links to complete a couple of tests. Then, I was invited to record some video answers to some questions about myself. It’s a little strange speaking to yourself while filming, but don’t worry, there is space to practice. Then, I had a couple of interviews with people in different roles within the company. These interviews were a great opportunity to learn more about the company culture and structure and to see if I could imagine myself fitting within it.

Throughout the Bunzl Grad Program selection process, I noticed some marked differences in comparison with other selection processes. The across-the-board culture of positive communication was constantly evident. Throughout the process, the next steps and timelines were conveyed quickly. I always had the impression that my time and effort are respected. The interviews with people throughout the company also proved to be an extension of this positive culture.

Was the induction week insightful?

The induction week was a great opportunity to meet everyone in the program as well as to get set up for my first three-month rotation. As Bunzl is such a large international company that owns many other companies, listening to presentations from people who work throughout the business structure was invaluable in understanding the context of my future rotations. The induction also solidified how great the structure of Bunzl’s grad program is: Having a group of peers all experiencing similar things, and who all meet up various times throughout the year, is a great support system to be a part of.

What was the coolest thing you learnt about Bunzl?

The coolest thing about working for Bunzl is being a part of such a positive global network. Even from what I’ve experienced so far, it is clear that there is a massive breadth of opportunity throughout the company and that wherever you go the people are genuinely great! There are no stupid questions, and everyone is willing to chat.

What are the challenges you have faced in your first week at Bunzl?

Getting settled in and learning the ropes has been the biggest challenge of my first week. Being open to changes and eager to learn and engage with new processes and programs has been vital.
