He Waka Eke Noa | Creating Great Together

Here at BNZ, it's about more than just banking. We believe in supporting our local communities and designing customer led solutions that change the way people manage their money. For our people this means we create an environment where you can try new things, deliver innovative solutions and be empowered to put your energy into being you.

As part of the International Payments Operations Team, we want to ensure that we keep the Bank and our customers safe when sending and receiving funds, and to meet all our obligations in adhering to Sanctions, Risk & Compliance requirements.

This is a fixed term opportunity until September 2023.

Te Kaiurungi | About the Role

The role is all about providing leadership and expertise on matters relating to Sanctions - identifying everyday innovative process improvements within the team and taking ownership in a constantly changing environment. You will interact with staff and customers in a way that inspires confidence and builds productive relationships. Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Screening of payments in and out of BNZ to ensure we meet our compliance obligations to applicable legal and regulatory requirements in relation to sanctions and embargoes
  • Carry out investigative procedures to process international payments
  • Analyse customer and transactional data and outline appropriate actions in line with the banks policies and global sanctions compliance obligations

Ō Pūkenga | About You

You will have the proven ability to develop, document and maintain policies and procedures, including the design of detailed process flows, support plans and reporting. Naturally curious, you will know when and how to source and use additional information to make considered decisions. You will have articulate communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build networks within the organisation.

Previous Financial Services/Banking experience or exposure to Sanctions would be advantageous, but not essential.
