The company has an excellent culture that really makes it feel like a community with company organised social events occurring most weeks. I think that all the leaders within my team are very easily approachable and while commanding respect do not do that in a way that makes others feel fearful of them. I think the open plan office with no offices helps makes everyone feel equal. The office always has a good atmosphere of people enjoying what they do and communicating with their colleagues in a light-hearted way.

Office culture is positive and supportive. There are efforts to made to be diverse and inclusive particularly gender diverse.
Flexible work is also encouraged to suit your needs.
Social committee and activities are common including coffee runs, after work events on fridays (monthly)
There is international and interstate cooperation and teamwork.

Almost no expectation to work after hours. The environment doesn’t feel cutthroat/toxic at all. There are a good balance of social activities too.
I sometimes feel the attitude towards grads to be a little condescending, particularly from those we don’t work directly with. For example there seems to be a perception from grad coordinators that grads don’t have a lot of work / responsibilities, which isn’t necessarily true.

Arup embraces diversity and is very welcoming. My team are all friendly and after working here for several months I get along well with all 34 members of the team. Arup also has groups such as Ovagreen that emphasise the importance of being environmentally minded and run fun socials that embrace these ideals. I get along so well with some colleagues that we have gone wakeboarding, hiking and played board games together on weekends.

Company culture supports my aim of having good work-life balance. There is strong effort by the company for team culture. There are many social events during and after business hours. Company structure is 'flat' which allows graduates to easily interact with top seniors. I feel accepted and appreciated.

The office is very progressive with social and environmental focus. Lots of opportunities for volunteering, sharing our interests and learning. Lunch n learns and bursts online and in person. The only downfall is the general lack of interest in staying after work for out of hours events, limiting our opportunities to make friends outside of the professional 9-5 setting.

My seniors at work are very friendly and approachable. Everyone is professional, takes their job seriously, and maintains good teamwork and continuous improvement. We are very open and nonjudgmental here.
Graduate, Melbourne - 17 Jul 2024
People individually are very welcoming, team structure is extremely social in local team (~15). Get along well with others from similar disciplines. Indifferent on social experience on larger team messages / call 9considering global employees), but working alongside other colleagues out of state / country usually forms a good technical and social relationship

The company culture is great - the office itself is quite lively across the week (mainly Tuesday to Thursday) and the office hosts different talks across lunchtime (with catered lunch) as well as other activities and events. Outside of the office, there are different committees that hold a range of different events to suit different interests.
The open plan layout is also a great way to catch up with colleagues across the office coincidentally and also provides many different areas to work from.

I hate the corporate world, but I can not speak more highly of Arup. I can talk to people who are the global lead like they are a grad - everyone sits around everyone and forces collaboration and minglling between all levels - it fosters fast growth.
Graduate, Perth - 31 Oct 2023
Fantastic company culture, colleagues are available to talk about more than work and managers make sure to check in emotionally and provide additional support when required. Open office layout encourages collaboration and dedicated non-work spaces within the office (cafe, cafateria, table tennis) provide a space to have informal social connections. Very flat social hierarchy, everyone gets the same desk, no offices, everyone is happy to talk to everyone. Regular social events are available without pressure to participate every time.
Graduate, Melbourne - 30 Oct 2023
Most other staff are welcoming and approachable. Most staff are keen to share knowledge and collaborate. Outside of work, the teams I sit in are often keen and support planning end of year events or other social activities. The office and various committees also like to foster socialising by organising events for all staff at the office and outside the office.
Graduate, Brisbane - 16 Dec 2022
Arup has a fairly flexible working structure with both working from home as well as in the office, my team particularly coordinates team days in the office to facilitate collaboration. The hours are flexible as well, with allocated weekly hours that can be completed when works best as long as you are available for meetings. There are regular in office events, providing opportunities for officewide socialising as well as learning from different teams. There are also often opportunities to socialise outside of work as well with after work drinks, networking opportunities, functions etc. The office structure is broken down into teams for various disciplines, but there are plenty of opportunities to work on projects in other teams depending on capacity and interests. Cooperation and teamwork are encouraged with everyone willing to lend a hand or offer advice for any questions.

My company's culture in the office is respectful, social, friendly and buzzy. The same can be said for after hours and I really enjoy spending time with my colleagues outside of work. I am lucky to be blessed with a team that I get along with really well and I truly enjoy their company and conversation. We work well together as a team and stay in touch constantly - whether working in the office or at home. We look out for each other, check-in consistently and take a transparent approach to each others workloads and help out where we can.
Midlevel, Sydney - 13 Dec 2022
Arup operates with a linear hierarchy, you never feel that someone is above or below you. The culture is heavily focused on the people, and encourages growth. You find yourself being friends first and colleagues second as you socialise and collaborate.
Graduate, Melbourne - 12 Dec 2022
My team in particular has a very strong positive culture - everyone is nice, respectful and caring. We have real friendships within the team, where I feel safe being myself. There is no strict hierarchy in the team where I feel uncomfortable approaching my managers/ seniors. Everyone is willing to help and is so supportive. There is effort made to keep members of the team connected.
